What the Moses is this??

It appears to be hundreds of tiny black caterpillar .... Should I kill them cos they look pretty scary!!

 

lucky you if living on nettles they are caterpillars

peacock, comma and tortoiseshell butterflies.

 

Thank god for that!! There's me trying to attract butterflies into the garden and then wanting to kill them as babies..... I thought I had an infestation of some garden killing creatures There are nettles on the other side of the fence and they are there .... Thanks for your quick reply spruce, hubby was getting ready for war

 

glad I was quick, I had a thought of sprays etc and the whole population getting decimated !!!

I would be gutted , if reading this tomorrow and the whole lot wiped out

They normally use the same spot each year so keep a eye out for them

You saved them spruce! Thanks again now I know what they are I will keep a close eye out, and I see your a bee keeper I would like to inform you of a bumblebee population that has made a lovely home under our outside boiler so feel extremely privileged
