Thanks Cjt, and Dave W :)
If you have a tablet, and can zoom in, what you can see in her eyes is the gold reflector :) which would explain the dominance (quite a big light source to have shoved in front of you)
I will dig out the data and post it tomorrow :)

I've said it many times but if you post an image on the web, regardless of what you say and do, someone somewhere will always take a copy, that's just how it is. Trick is to always post low res versions of your photo's so that if anyone tried to expand them for their own use, they will look terrible.

I would not say hyper critical at all, we ALL see photo's differently and what pleases one person frustrates another.

Kudos to you for doing this, too many photographers in this day and age rely on photoshop filters, and then use too much of them resulting in nasty horrible eye scraping photos. Doing it "in camera" as the saying goes is "real" photography. And for that, you won the comp!

      Quotes aside now.

It's a lovely photograph NG, tack sharp where it counts on the subject herself and she is very photogenic. Great use of depth of field and aperture here to isolate the subject and a great pose from the model too. Was it at a wedding perchance?

As I said above, we all have our own views on what constitutes a great shot and for me here the framing is wrong, in wrong I mean I would not be satisfied if I had of taken it that way.

If you where using a 50mm prime I would have stepped back to open the tight framing on the right and also include the whole champagne glass. Personally, I hate "cutting" things like that.

But this is just my view and observations of what I would have done or how I would have attempted it, I did not take the above shot nor did I win the comp...so what the heck do I know!!

Well done NG, what was the prize?

      Steve...:)

Hi Steve, thanks for your feedback :)
Yep, low res is the way, but unfortunately I have computer and connectivity issues at the moment. The image was on my PlayBook, so I posted it not knowing its res.
The shoot was arranged, and shot with two great models. This shot was really a complete fluke. My wife at the time (divorced) had just walked into the house with the other model, thinking the shoot was over, but the two of us stayed on and basically the model pulled the pose, and I instinctively snapped ASAP. I had already looked at the glass, and I think it was shot that way. I would have normally done as you say. It was a speed thing :)

Regarding copyright.....many a time messages went out to photographers stating that their image had been seen elsewhere, and had they given permission. I think it was then a case of pursuit, not only of the culprit, but a fee!

You have quite a talent there NG :blue thumb:

I am no photographer, but even I can see that your image is a first class cracker! And yes, the model as a wee belter too .

Don't waste your talent - make something of it!

As it happens, one of my staff has a similar talent - he is good, and I mean top notch! Now, I am giving him as much encouragement as I can, purely because he loves photography and he is so good at it, its a shame not to share it. If he moves on to take up photography professionally? Yeah, we'll be stuffed to replace him; Do I want him to go - no way! But, he clearly has a talent, and that in my book should not be stifled.

Your talent appears to be of a similar standard. Do yourself a favour (and anyone in need of a good photographer) - chase that dream!

I couldn't give up all of my benefits at work. Pension etc, holidays, sick pay.
I still have all of my studio gear across town at the lock up, just in case work goes pear shaped, but I hope not.
Some of the photos I have seen recently (Sheal, Woo, Cjt etc) has given me a craving to do more though. I may have to give it another go soon. I was once into it in a big way. (pre divorce).
