I spotted this leaf yesterday when I was going about feeding everything - I presume that this is not normal, and the plant is trying to tell me something? Question is though, what is it trying to tell me?

The white mottling is normal, not so sure about the yellow. I would have said it was hungry, except you are obviously force-feeding it. The leaves look healthy enough apart from the yellow one, though.

As said, the white mottling is normal. I'm thinking Magnesium deficiency ? :dunno:

Edit : Is it just the one leaf that's affected?

      Could it be mosaic virus?
I've seen this late in the season before, but it seems a bit early.

Just one leaf on that particular plant, and one leaf on a neighbour. All of them seem to be going great guns to be honest, and I have never had as many fruits growing before - - looking like a good courgette season, unless this issue gets worse.

FC, what variety is it? If it's one of the yellow fruited varieties, then a slight yellow colouring on the leaves is perfectly normal.

I grow the yellow fruited variety 'Jemmer' and I get that kind of colouring to the leaves every time. Doesn't stop them producing vast amounts of courgettes though. :)

Its not a yellow variety, but I cannot remember the variety..... that in itself is a bit of a bind, as the past two years I have been trying Patio Star and they have been poor performers and very susceptible to powdery mildew; these ones so far are bigger, healthier and are producing more fruit.

Is this just an "old" leaf that was stressed when the plant was at the "potted stage"? If so it could just have "done its job and fallen on its sword". I would be more worried about any new leaves, formed after planting out, looking sickly.

Could well be - its on one of two plants that were potted on a week or so later than the rest (I ran out of pots!), and they were fairly stressed by the time they got potted out.

The lower leaves on my courgettes always decline, and sometimes by the end of an extended season I've removed quite a few, so regard this as 'normal'.

I've found every variety of yellow courgette prone to leaf yellowing.

Found the packet - they are Astia F1 courgettes from Johnson's; I always seem to do well with Johnson's seeds, so must make the effort to buy more of them next year.

I'm glad I have read this as all 8 of my courgette plants have the white markings on the leaves
