Three of the shrubby Salvias today. They smell of blackcurrant when you brush against them:

Very nice Jenny. There's a lot to be said for the S.microphylla and the associated hybrids. I particularly like that Dysons Crimson.

I planted S.buchanii out a few weeks ago and it has just started blooming...............

All the others seem more intent on growing than blooming.

Grew some from seed last year, was really pleased with it, and it over wintered (outside) OK ... must remember to gather seed this year :)

My salvia collection from plug plants have shot up and bloomed in the greenhouse , but I'm not sure what to do with them now. Should I cut down after flowering and repot? Or plant out? They've got very leggy, I'll try and attach a couple of pics.

What species do you have? From what I can make out there may be S.microphylla, S.gregii and assorted cultivars..................

And so it should - proper hardy Salvia that one!

Mostly cultivars then, and on the whole the ones that I'm not familiar with!
Hot Lips is indestructible so plant it out. S.guaranitica should be hardy in the fullness of time, but if it were mine I would pot grow it this year and keep in the cold greenhouse for the winter.

We need @nibor for good info.

Salvia Hians today. A sprawling, lanky plant that would like more room than I can offer it. A deeper border would be better:

              Love it Jenny!
Mine are a year away I reckon.
S.dolicanthe and S.forskaehlei are budding up nicely. S.forskaehlei looks particularly promising (excuse the garden tools)......................

Do be aware that this will drop millions of seeds, if you don't deadhead it!
