I plan on replacing covers after 3 years, so the availability and cost of replacement covers is something that should be taken into consideration when selecting a tunnel. My first tunnel is now 3 years old and I've got a replacement ready to go on as soon as the weather's suitable.

I see those two prices have now more or less switched round, they don't make this simple, do they?!

Yes, given the price of the initial purchase, it's not unreasonable to have to spend £80 every three or four years to re-cover.

    Thanks again for the help.

If anybody's interested in buying just a frame from Grow-ur-own so they can erect it and cover with proper polytunnel covering, I've just noticed that they are auctioning frames only. Yesterday a 6 x 3m went for £112.20 incl P&P http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6m-x-3m-x...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

    There's another one here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6m-x-3m-x...299?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item27e452a63b

Only a small saving against a frame complete with cover for £139.90 from here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Polytunne...119?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3384c8051f but maybe some people want the £27.70 saving to put towards the better covering and avoid having the hassle of replacing in a couple of year's time.

I suspect that the frames are being sold separately as Grow-ur-own has run out of replacement covers.

These bolts from Wilko's 'Pick and Mix' have a better shaped head than the originals, plus being longer enable all sorts of stuff to be attached to the inside of the frame, plus use for fixing to holding down straps around the base. You can get about 45 bolts complete with washers and wing nuts in a £2.99 bag, and if using one of their 20% off vouchers (£3 off £15 this week then £4 off £20 for the next 3 weeks) it will get the cost down to only £2.60.

Original bolt on the left, replacement on the right, pack beneath:

I was re-arranging some rabbit proof fencing this afternoon using mainly old garden gazebo tubes as posts, but also a few galvanised steel tubes (think they came from a campsite bin where somebody's tent collapsed and got chucked). The poles had been lying on top of a coldframe for some time waiting to be used. I picked up a galvanised steel one and ouch! it was hot, but the white painted gazebo tubes were only warm.
