    Hello Kristen
    They already parachute out of the garden :biggrin:. Made me laugh imagining seeing these things jumping and shouting 1000-2000-3000 and pulling the ripcord :lunapic 130165696578242 5:
    Thanks for the giggle.

          Copper is poisonous to slugs and snails. It generates a small voltage between the soil and itself that will discourage them. A bit like getting a piece of silver foil on an old fashioned mercury tooth filling.
          I've used these for some years and I believe they work. I've not been in a position to do a controlled experiment though.

          Thanks for this NigelJ, can I ask how you buy them? Another reason that I haven't tried them yet is because I have read a few reports that say buying them from a third party supplier (such as via Amazon) could result in buying nematodes that may not have been stored correctly prior to despatch and that in excess of 50% could be lost.

          @lykewakewalker
          There are a number of suppliers. I use Green Gardener and have had no problems. The package arrives several weeks before the use by date and I just store in the fridge. They are not a cheap solution. I use a scheduled programme with 4 deliveries over the growing season.

            Thanks for this Nigel, I intend to give them a try. I realise that it isn't a cheap solution but I don't want to spend every evening in the garden with a torch strapped to my head - the neighbours think that I'm a bit weird as it is, that would only confirm their suspicions

            @lykewakewalker

            I still end up with the head torch in the garden as I have the greenhouse to deslug and sadly the nematodes are not effective on snails. Some reports say that they do work on snails but they are only sold for slug treatment.

              Nope, no idea what that plant is.

              The slugs in my garden have changed colour! I had the dark brown and bluey black ones, but now they are a sandy brown colour :dunno:

              They have already had my 3 lupins, and some of the amaranthus and coleus.:yikes:

              Time for some exterminating me thinks.

              Mine are still parachuting into the school next door ;). I never realised until I started with the garden that there were so many types of slug.
