    Okay @ARMANDII, you want me to expand, yes? :) The plants in the biomes were impressive but I think the whole place was too much about tropical/exotic plants. Yes, there were the outdoor gardens, but there wasn't any particular plants that stood out, I expected more of a variation.

    The introduction of the stage for music I felt was just another way of making money and out of place at the Project. In fact I think that's what the whole place is about. Everything in the gift/craft shop was overpriced and the same for the 'eating' areas. The few plants that were for sale when I was there I could have bought in any garden centre, they were also over priced.....and not fit for sale!

    Then there were the endless queues! I'm only thankful that I bought my tickets on line which got me through the gate more quickly. I got bored and left after an hour and a half having felt ripped off, the entrance cost is too much!

                    You will love it joolz. And, yes - it is really all about tropical plants - its not a garden in the normal sense.

                    My biggest regret was that I didn't know what so many of the plants were. I would have loved to have had a personal guide.

                      I tend to agree with that. A couple of nice Salvia, but the rest of it outdoors was rather ho-hum.
                      Inside however was great (maybe a bit preachy in places though).

                      A few tips;
                      1] go on you own - all my other half did was moan about how hot 'n sticky it was. The truth is that it was only about 30°c and about 95% humidity in the rainforest biome so she was talking rubbish IMO!!!
                      2] don't forget about other gardens, especially Heligan. Worth it just for The Jungle.
                      3] Go down in a van as there are lot's of good nurseries down there. If the van gets filled give the kids a tenner and tell 'em to make their own way home!!!
                      Don't forget to stop off at Hill House Nursery on the way down. PeterS will back me up on this (I think). Any complaints from the family just point out that the cafe is recommended.

                        LongK - I certainly would agree about Hill House Nursery. They have a nice internet site, but the nice thing when you go in person is that the prices are cheaper. For instance the site lists Streptosolen at £9.50 plus postage, when I was there earlier this year Ray said they weren't really ready - but I pointed to a small one and he said OK £2.

                        The cafe is good.

                          Even the proper (tagged) prices are cheaper!
