@moyra I posted this on the Bees thread :blue thumb:

This may be of interest - with thanks to 'Natural Cures Not Medicines'.
    http://www.naturalcuresnotmedicine.com/2014/06/make-bee-waterer-help-hydrate-pollinators.html

Bees need very shallow water to drink from. However, shallow water evaporates quickly.

Birdbaths are not the best option as bees tend to drown if the water is not shallow enough.

As for river and lakes, bees risk their lives trying to get water in the presence of fishes, frogs, and other wildlife, not to mention the risk of being swept away in water currents.

To help hydrate our little pollinators, set up a water feeder by filling a pie pan with marbles and then water. The marbles give the bees a spot to land so that they don’t drown when they come to drink. No more drowned bees!

It was fantastic @Lolimac - I will openly admit that I am bias when it comes to The Eagles, having been a fan for many years, but I can honestly say that the fact that the O2 is that bit smaller than the stadiums I have seen them play in the past, and that it has better acoustics, all coupled with superb production from start to finish made it a hugely enjoyable night. The whole place was standing and singing along during the second half, and there were (rightly) two standing ovations at the end. They simply are unbeatable in my mind.

Better still, their own performance was so polished, tight, and yet somehow comfortable and relaxed - - it seems to me that they have reached a really nice place, where they are performing for the love of doing it, and are not being pressured by a record company.

Its been a roaster of a day here, and I must confess to having some sunburn, but project shed has progressed well - I will post some pics in the 'What jobs' thread later (must eat, absolutely starving!)

            Aloha everyone,

Another beautiful day and I've already done a couple of hours work in the garden, with breaks  (before one of you lovely ladies tells me to take it easy :snork:).

I fed the birds and the bullfinches are so tame that one landed on my hand whilst I was putting one of the feeders up. :) I had to sow another three dozen runnerbean seeds yesterday as the plants are still being eaten. I don't think it's rabbit damage this time as the stalks are still there. Most of it appears to be snails so it will have to be slug pellets, I'm afraid!

I'll have my brekkie now before I start prepping the lunches. :blue thumb: We ate lunch in the garden yesterday (and shall do it again today) but I can't lay anything out on the table beforehand as Sarafi comes to inspect! It's all a last minute thing as I need to have the lunch on the table at 12.30 on the dot. :dbgrtmb:

            Enjoy this wonderful Sunday

            Aloha!

Sounds like a good gig @fat controller :)

Lovely day here, thinking about fishing :):fishing:

 Sorting out boat gear ready for next weekend, 8 hour trip needs some planning. Going down the beach this evening when the Grockles have gone to bed, usually something about then :)

                    Morning all

Another scorcher here already. Dogs walked, front garden watered, just going to top up the bird feeders then finish off planting up everything still to be planted up.

Have a wonderful sunny Sunday everyone.

                      Morning all :)

Just about to head out to potter more on the shed; sunburn isn't too bad actually, in fact what I thought was sunburn on my legs wasn't, it was simply a bit of gravel rash where I was sat on the concrete with all sorts of sand and sawdust knocking about. I am losing my voice however - too much singing on Friday night methinks.

@Zigs - it really was a cracker, and I would highly recommend the O2 for gigs like that; large enough to get a healthy audience but small enough that you don't feel that you would have been better buying the DVD.............

A late Good Morning to you all. I was up all night with sickness and diarrhea so I been having a lay down this morning to catch up on a bit of rest. Feeling very weak. This cutting the tramdol down by half is upsetting my system.

Thanks for the info on the bees drinking dishes. I understand what is needed now. I am afraid apart from walking Amber I shall not go out into the garden unless it is under cover. Steve has done all the watering of the garden this morning.

Have a good day all, God bless.:wub2:
