It's a nice one - will it come true from seed?

Update on Salvia forsskaolii - it is really fulfilling its potential and is now officially a true gem! Filling out nicely and flowering heriocally!

I hope so. I'll take a piccie of the flowers as I think it will bloom this season.

And here's Salvia sclarea turkestanica alba - coming out today. Too big for my own border but I've planted it in the Communal garden. Full sun and very dry - just how it likes it!

        http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/salvialicious2014/m.html
I'm not knowledgeable to know if there are varieties for sale that have merit / are not available Over Here?? but hopefully there are some unusual things on offer :)

Obviously I had to fall for a winter bloomer! Hopefully @nibor can help.

          Better add a photo of my own now;
Salvia discolor is loving it on the kitchen roof and it's certainly the best place to show its long arching stems off..................

I didn't ... I was hoping you would go "I've gotta have THIS, THIS and THIS" and then I was just going to buy those in the knowledge that they would be Choice :heehee:

My thinking was "Oz seed harvest must be in by now, and still time to sow & grow perennials ready for a quick-getaway next Spring" so was looking at getting some seed in. But I got bored of paging through page-after-page of stuff that I am not interested in, from the folk that I have bought from before, and then stumbled over the salvia-2014 guy :)

Perhaps collectively we could spend a bit of time on eBay AU looking for "interesting" specialist seed suppliers? (Actually, doesn't have to be on eBay at all, just needs to be on Oz soil :) )

I know the person in Australia, her seeds are totally reliable. We have exchanged seeds many times. Most of what she is offering can be seen on my site www.robinssalvias.com

Well good morning Nibor, nice to see you are still with us on GC. Whilst you are here, can you please advise on whether my saved seed from Dyson's Crimson will come true to mother plant as it is growing on nicely now ( see #45 above),
and my mixed pot of Salvia Patens Oxford and Cambridge Blue are on the point of flowering - so looking forward to that too,
                Jenny

                Nibor,
I have taken a photo of the mother plant from which I took seed last Autumn. I would be so grateful if you could positively ID this as Dyson's Crimson which I bought from your Compton Nursery 2 years ago,
                thank you

Dyson's Crimson may not come true from seed....but then it might!!! I don't have a nursery...what is Compton's nursery?

Patens usually comes true from seed.

                Robin.

Not so exotic but went over the garden centre this morning to pick up a tap adaptor & came back with Salvia Caradonna, just the thing to sit in a pot in the drive to stop people parking in the way:
