Went for a walk around some reed-beds yesterday in the hope of catching sight of reed warblers and I'm glad to say it was a success, though hubby threatened not to go out walking with me anymore since I spent ages trying to take photos. The small size of the birds, the denseness of the reeds plus my dodgy eyesight made finding the target in the camera viewfinder nearly impossible, so my dear hubby was using binoculars to help with spotting them. Here are a few photos from our joint effort

And a young stonechat, not sure what it was doing in among the reeds

Nearby there were recently cut hay fields with strips of wildflower meadow around them where there were hundreds of butterflies dancing about. The majority of them were meadow browns and most of the time they only touched down for a second or two so I didn't get any decent photos. In some uncut long grass we found a few large skippers:

Among the surrounding hedgerows, plenty of ringlets:

Nothing special with this photo but we counted 33 of them sunning themselves on the patio :)

There were no other types of butterfly and these appeared to be smaller than usual.
