Thanks for all replies. My worry about the Miracle gro hosepipe sprayer is that the liquid in it never seems to decrease. You are told to add more fertilizer when the blue colour disappears.

I also cleared the shelves of Wilko's version (WonderGro) when it was reduced to only 10p for 1Kg boxes and bought a trolley load (together with loads of tomato fertiliser at the same price). Down to my last box!

I used to use LBS for clients, they were brilliant! When I contacted them after moving over here, they declined to quote. Presumably, they're only interested in wholesale orders:frown: Used to get through 1000 litres of peat-based a year as well as several sacks of BF&Bone but hey-ho....carriage costs are spiralling out of control all over Europe, so it's understandable that Co's aren't interested in relatively small orders.
I'll just have to bite the bullet and invite a few members of family who aren't particularly pleasant, but can transport goodies;)

If you can work out an economical way to do it I'm happy to bring stuff back for you @noisette47 and ship it on.

I have a wholesale account with LBS - all for the trouble of filling in the form. I find I need enough to make up an order of £200 or so a couple of times a year.

Ahh..that's very kind of you, Eve! I think I'll be OK for this year and I am trying out the good old comfrey water as well, so if that is as effective as it's supposed to be, it'll save a fortune! Thanks again.

They're still the best then? Might give them another try for MP compost next year. The local gardening club are trying to organise a wholesale order for Parker's Bulbs but unreliable UK deliveries make timing tricky..... (Apologies to the OP for thread drift! Ahem....will start a dedicated moaning thread for ex-pats ;-))

I think their organisation and service is chaotic, but its the only trade seller I know with a decent wide range of materials. Given the lack of useful information on their website I'm staggered that they sell anything - for example ranges of X (pots, hose fittings, whatever) with no size dimensions whatsoever ...
