I wasn't sure if Indigo Rose needed side-shooting, according to google it does, but your plants are looking pretty good without. Once the side-shoots get very big with flowers it's easy to damage the plant trying to remove them. So it's no big deal to leave them on, they will need supporting hopefully when fully laden with fruit :blue thumb:

Wiseowl, I'll be very interested to learn what you think of the taste of your Indigo Rose - according to Mr Google it is a ‘super food’ packed full of good things - should make your feathers nice and sleek. Please let us know when you get some fully ripe :dbgrtmb:

It's on my list as a likely candidate to try next year :)

That's sad, but to the best of my knowledge Honey Bees don't make any difference to pollination of Tomatoes. Tomatoes need vibration to self-pollinate. Bumble Bees can do this, but not AFAIK Honey Bees.

I think just brushing past the plants is enough, but I have read of using an electric toothbrush touching the stem (not the flower). Other makes of mechanical vibrators are available :heehee:

If you are going to do this then worth doing on almost-open flowers, as well as already-open ones. Tomato flowers can pollinate before they are actually open - and presumably the pollen then can't escape :)

They need a minimum 0f 13C overnight to set the fruit. We've had a number of cold nights here over the last 10 days (although I doubt that inside the greenhouse has fallen below 13C)

There's been lows of 9 in my GH but after a rocky start things are looking up,the fruits are setting nicely although a couple of plants are only just getting their second truss where as others are starting to romp away:dbgrtmb:

@Kristen it turns out i appear to be tomato blind. I have a lot more than 2 lol

Been worrying for no reason but some are quite big i dont know how i missed them

I am concerned tho because i have to go look after my parents dogs while they are away so wont be at mine to open and close the greenhouse every day. I will be popping back every few days but i dont really know what to do

Im thinking of leaving the door half open and i have a vent in the other end so leave that open too and hope that that will keep it cool enough in the dat but warm enough at night

Without checking the forecast Dips I'd leave the door open and any vents you have, even if the temperature gets a little low over night the worst it can do is slow them down a bit where as if we do get high temperatures with the door and vents closed it'll be curtains:dbgrtmb:

Solar powered extractor fan is a good move in this weather.

I leave my door and manual vents fully open if I go away for a few days. I've got some auto-vents too, for me they are a 'must have' for the greenhouse. It's better to let the greenhouse get a bit cold overnight than risk it getting too hot during the day - anything over 30 deg C and plants stop growing, over 40 and they can die.
