Hi Allan, there are plenty of genetics listing sites to check out the heritage of named and weighted seeds, but when I searched for the plant that I gave to you (at seed sowing time), I could not find a record that matched the grower Cutrupi to the weight 1278, so could not find any info at all.

I do of course have a lot of heritage info about the geyelin seeds I am growing this year, one of them is quite special as it's a Rodonis remake. The Rodonis original seeds went on to grow many very large pumpkins. It makes for interesting reading on a wet afternoon.

      Steve...:)

I had to give my pumpkin plant a haircut as all the yellow leaves eventually shrivelled up and died. But the pumpkin is growing at some rate in last few days

Despite having most of the stem eaten thru, @Lolimac 's pumpkin has just gone "boofty" and is charging across the plot with 2 small fruits on it :):):)

Here is another update, plants are growing on well now, and I have my first fruit growing

The 978 above is now 9ft long with a 9.5ft first secondary vine. Many other secondaries are now growing well and are being trained out pitch fork fashion and pegged down. I also have a growing fruit on this plant too, but I may well pull it as it is too low on the plant.

The 427 above, is still the strongest plant in terms of outright size. It's currently 10.5ft long with a 8 foot first secondary. Again plenty of secondaries growing away happily and being trained and pegged down.

The 1271 above is still growing well but in a strange manner, it's overall shape when looked at as a whole is just not quite right and the suspected fasciation evident on the main vine contiues, making it dificult at time to tell which is the main vine tip and which is new secondary. This plant is 8 ft long.

The 874 above was planted late, and is rapidly catching up at 5.5ft long, It was planted in the bed as my first early potatoes where being lifted.

                  Steve...:)

Time to blow all of your minds, and before you go click the links below, please remember this is NOT mine.

The first link is to a diary entry of a bloke called Ian Paton, one of the "Paton Twins" who a couple of years ago held the UK record and I would think with the growth they are getting they will hold the UK record again by the end of the year. Anyway, look at the first link to see how much one of their 'kins has gained in weight this week alone.

The link below is to the Paton twins diary/blog so you can view how they grow their pumpkins through the season.
