my neighbors have these huge weeds clinging onto the tree in their garden and its a pain .its massive in the summer and blocks light out and shrivels up and turns to nothing in the winter but every year it gets bigger and bigger !!

it would be epic if it could be identified so i can take a course of action :-)

    p.s hello everyone im mark

    Hello and welcome.

I think its Russian Vine, and yes it is a problem. Its other name, if I've ID'ed it correctly, is 'Mile a minute' because of how fast it grows.

    It smothers everything basically.

You now know what it is but I'm not sure what you can do about it as it's not on your land.

Have you tried talking to your local council.. If it is blocking the light or at a dangerous height they might be interested in writing to them asking them reduce it..

What is the tree it is smothering.? Is it dead or alive.? If dead or dying it could be a problem in the wind... is it a hazard.? Speak to the tree officer at your local council..
