I thought I would put a garden update on here, but in video form to give a better aspect of the garden size and plant variety etc. Hope you enjoy it, regards.

John - that's really great. I see plants in pots that can be overwintered under glass, but does everything else stay outside. And that's a huge banana - what is it? and did that stay outside?

Everything in the ground including the big banana stayed outside for winter. Its a Musa Basjoo and it was protected for winter, but with it being so mild protection would not have been needed. High-insight would be useful!:heehee: The first picture is November and the second late March when it was uncovered, the last yesterday.

John - the Musa bajoo in your last picture is bigger than the picture before. Did you cut it back for the winter, or was it very young and has just grown naturally since.

I have a couple myself, bought for 49p each from Homebase at the end of last year. They were small enough to overwinter in the green under glass, but this won't always be the case. So I am interested in what to do with them. At 49p its not the end of the world if they don't survive this winter - but I hate to be beaten

I had to to cut it back to fit in a a straw cage, but I ensured it kept the height of its trunk. It was purchased in September 2012 and over wintered in the greenhouse. Then planted last May (First picture) and grew like mad last year. Here's what I did last November.
