I've almost eradicated ground elder (we had a patch about 300sq ft of it) by meticulous digging and just, occasionally, come across a bit that pops it head up.

Horsetail/marestail patrol is twice a week in spring and once a week in summer. It comes up in the same places all the time but is just about under control.

Yesterday was some mowing and weeding whilst moaning to myself that it was too hot and sticky to be doing mowing and weeding!

With the heat I'm not surfacing until after 7pm. The sprinkler was on the beds yesterday evening for a few hours while I pottered about with the watering can. The tomatoes must like all this sun and heat, they are sweeter than ever this year! :)

Interesting you should say that Sheal. My window box ones collapse every afternoon in this heat if I'm not around at lunchtime to water them ( for the second time out of three times !) but they perk up within 30 minutes after watering and seem none the worse for it. THE FIRST Maskota is on the turn and I can't wait to taste it. It had better be the sweetest tomato I've ever tasted - they are being like "needy" fledgelings this year!

I think everything's struggling in the heat Jenny. I watered all my pots and troughs last evening and I've just noticed the Nicotiana are looking a bit droopy, they don't need watering perhaps a feed might help. :)

Normally the first few tomatoes picked are not so flavourful and sweet as the later ones, I've had half a dozen now and they are lovely, it's like eating sweets! :)

Iv'e taken 1 x heel cutting and 2 x upper stem cuttings of Fuchsia Delta's Sarah and put them in a poly bag in the north facing window. Two friends have admired it and want one,

I did some more mowing yesterday and m just about to go out there to cut 150ft of privet hedge before it gets too hot. Can't cut it too early as the neighbours are retired old fogeys like me! :heehee:
