As per the title. It could have been at home, at the flicks, on DVD, on the box etc, etc.

The reason that I ask is that I watched The Lives Of Others last night and thought that it was incredible...................

Top ten lists are hard as it rather depends on your mood but this is a contender.

Followed it up with an old favourite - A Bronx Tale..................

I will have to give that one a go when I next see it on TV it looks really good.

We watched Dirty Harry last night. Love the soundtrack.

        It really is!

Clint Eastwood is one of the greats! Best effort by far (IMO) was The Bridges Of Madison County.

I bought the DVD Unknown with Liam Neeson, was only £2.99 so wasn't expecting much but what a brilliant film.

@Val.. - Liam Neeson went through a period after Micheal Collins of making complete and utter crap, then burst back into form in Taken.
I saw Unknown a few months ago and got rather wrapped up in it, despite the ridiculous car/taxi chase.

You may have a point! The last new release that I saw at the cinema was Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I only go to the indy cinema in Oxford now when they show an old classic.
Next one on my "insomnia list" is Millers Crossing.

                  WHAT??!!

One of my favourites all time simply because it relied on storytelling and the characters.
That said, Sue fell asleep 20/30 minutes in, which was great as I didn't have to keep explaining it to her:rolleyespink:

Now talking about dull films...........that got rave reviews and Oscar nominations
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button seemed to last for 7 hours .
Chariots of Fire I wondered if I had missed something it was dire.

I think 'Saving Private Ryan' comes in this catagory, first 20 mins was very graphic war, but the rest was.....

All the remakes I have seen are absolute rubbish and not a patch on the original.

The Martin Clunes TV movie? I thought it was ok too.

Maybe that should say most? Oceans Eleven wasn't bad, Heat was a remake by the director Michael Mann of one of his earlier films and A Fistful Of Dollars was a remake (actually a rip off as proven in court) of a Japanese film.
But on the whole remakes are rubbish. Basically this is because they are nothing more than a chance to cash in on the popularity of an often iconic film. They lack the love of the original. But some remakes are as good or better than the original.
