Today, my first proper greenhouse arrived as planned.

I have checked off all contents, it seems to all be there. Mrs HG and I are going to start construction in the morning (way too hot out back at the mo :phew: ).

I was pleased that it is a Gardman, as the online store just had it as their offering. I had found this exact one elsewhere, but they were out of stock and didn't know when it would be in, so reluctantly went for what I thought was an own brand (no patience me! ) that seemed to be almost identical, well it is as it's the Gardman I wanted :blue thumb:

I will provide snap shots of the progress and (hopefully) the completion, THEN the questions will come.......:rolleyespink:

Good luck with the build Steve! I haven't bought anything produced by Gardman for years so I hope it's up to their previous good standard. Once it's up and running you'll wonder what you did without it! :)

I remember my first greenhouse back in 2004. I'd been to work all day and when I got home Neil had spent the afternoon putting up a basic plastic greenhouse for me (completely unexpected surprise!) and I was just over the moon :) Only 'problem' was that I got carried away in the following weeks and sowed so many seeds that I had to give loads of young plants away to my neighbours, in-laws etc as my own small garden was stuffed to bursting :roflol: No doubt I'll do the very same thing again once I *hopefully* get my allotment!

My only previous greenhouse was a blow away, and it certainly lived up to it's name!

Hopefully this one will be sturdier as it will be bolted to the ground, I guess I will probably get carried away with seeds etc too, but I have a friend who does a lot of charity stalls and she will always take as many plants as I can give her.

Still got to buy/build some staging yet though.

Looking forward to building this today.

That's all I've got at the moment. I'm hoping to buy a greenhouse when I move as I'm not keen on putting up a greenhouse then having to dismantle it again so I'll manage with a blow away for now.

Nothing wrong with getting carried away with seed sowing. I've done that this year and I haven't even got a greenhouse! What are you planning on growing in there? Tomatoes next year perhaps? :)

Good luck with the build.....let us know how it's going. I'll be needing a few tips for the not too distant future! :dbgrtmb:

The build has not gone totally to plan, an error on my part, that brought everything to a halt. By the time I worked out what was wrong (thanks to you tube) it was far too hot to carry on.

Was out on the razz last night so slow start this morning, but I'll get cracking on in a bit.

Will pop some photos on at coffee break :blue thumb:

@Fern4 Yes def tomatoes and maybe Chillies and Peppers too.

As for the greenhouse itself, cannot complain about the quality, except the nuts and bolts, which are aluminium as well and are easily stripped if you over tighten even slightly.

                    Laters.

This was as far as we got yesterday.

                      base.jpg

We got 3 sides of the frame completed, then came the hassle with side 4, the door part. 3sides.jpg

Finally figured it out with the help of YT, I hadn't noticed in the instructions that the diagram was from the outside view, (all others were internal views) and could not fit the top door support or runner :help:

So efforts restarted this morning, I correctly fitted the problem parts and we were cooking on gas. Then just as HG jr and I were preparing to fit all the sides together, we hit another snag! I had fitted all the bottom joists of each frame section the wrong way around, except the one that gave me hassle :dunno: More undoing and redoing.....

Finally with all these little niggles out of the way, it started to look more like a greenhouse.
                      framed.jpg

And just before I took this coffee break the roof bars were fitted.
                      roof.jpg

I am going to secure the frame to the base and then call it a day, it's way too hot to work again despite a hefty breeze. :phew:

                      Thanks for looking in.

Have had other stuff to do last evening and this, but should get back on the job tomorrow. Just time now for a brew, then off out to sort some problems.
