I don't keep hens but I have heard of this happening, I think there's a theory about hormones in the food.

Hens can very occassionally take on all the appearances of a cockerel and even start crowing but they are still female and can't fertilise eggs.

                          Hi
Been thinking about getting a pup and chooks.
Too much together?.... We had a much loved sheepdog for 18 years before, so experienced with dogs, not with chooks though. Thought it may be good to get them together to get used to one another in a new environment at the same time. Planning for next spring.
Would I need to go on a hen keeping course before owning hens?
There are bold foxes about locally, which is making henkeeping a bit of a sticky to get past OH ..... Are Egloo systems or similar enough to keep the hens safe?
Sorry for going a bit off piste!
                          Thanks

I have no idea on Egloo safety from foxes for hens Adendoll sorry,i cant see any issues with you getting a puppy and chooks at the same time,i have cats and they seem ok.
''M' might be able to advise on pups n chooks :) :blue thumb:
