Good morning just two more trips the recycling center and then dig this small area in readiness for the grass(for Mrs Woos front garden)

Mrs Woo informed yours truly that she would like the slabs removed and replaced with some grass on Her beloved front garden:love30::smile:

Yesterday I started to cut down a Mahonia that the previous person living here decided to plant in a totally wrong place. To get by it means I keep getting pricked on my bottom!! :yikes:

Today, I shall finish the job, which has opened up quite a large area, which is overgrown with Lily of the Valley bulbs, and another load of bulbs from an unknown white Spring flower.

I eventually want to replant the bed, but I am not going to do much as my Landlord wants to repair the two windows to the adjoining garages.:catapult:

Dips, did you know that you missed one panel? :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

In our front garden we've had ten Leylandii cut down and the stumps ground out. Another one in the back garden and one of our poplars had two 30ft high trunks taken down because they were dangerous.

                P1210235.JPG

                P1210238.JPG

All the smaller branches were chipped and the trunks logged and stored for a friend to pick up for his wood burner.

                The woody bits
                P1210224.JPG

                And the green bits
                P1210223.JPG

The area under the trees was completely full of ivy. We removed a lot of it before the stump grinding and now we have to sort through all the chippings for the bits. Most of the chippings will be sorted and then carted all the way to our compost heaps (about 300ft away).
                P1210240.JPG

Some will be left as mulch and I hope to go and collect horse manure to dig in. Any ideas on how much manure needed for this area? I've almost run out of compost this year so will have to wait for the new compost to mature before digging it in as well. So nothing to be done until Spring.

We now have to decide what we want to plant there. Preferably colourful and fragrant. :)

Finished digging up the Mahonia, surprised it did not have a taproot. Now have started sieving the soil as I want to save the bulbs to plant in another area.:psnp:

Tomorrow will start making a new bed for the Rhubarb.

My back is killing me and I feel like this :old::yikes::yikes:

                            Hi All

Made some plant supports today. I've made 5 large ones and 8 single ones and still have enough material to make another 2 large and probably 5 small. All for a tenner.

No Shiney I will leave that to the squirrels after I have planted up the pots, for the following few days I have to replant them after the squirrels dig them up.
