What Jobs are we doing in the Garden today 2014..

Is that perhaps because you are cutting it back (i.e. taking off future-flowering shoots)?

Not something that I have experience of though.

 

This was the longest it's got, and there's never been any flowers :( it's just a crazy green grows-too-fast vine

 

Since we are having a bit of rain at the moment, I moved one of my tree ferns because I planted them too close, underestimating how big the fronds would get:

Divided a Fuchsia "Autumnale" stem (casualty of ex- Bertha) into 3 and planted the cuttings in a MPC/JI / sand mix . Did the same with 3 sprigs of "Frank Hedley", my favourite Fuchsia.
Then, I assisted a brave little bumble bee who was trying to gather nectar from the Dwarf bedding Dahlias. I held the stems steady underneath the flower heads for her as the wind was buffeting her about so much,

I've spent most of the day house-working but managed to get outside to dead head and take the battered blooms off my roses. I pruned a lot of the leaves off my tomatoes and then spent an hour watering pots.

 

I need to spend some time today emptying the drip trays under mine. They are at risk of over watering I think,

cut a ton of grass yesterday. cleaned the gazebo today, pillows, etc. sweeping, etc. thinking of pulling some weeds in the front. but almost 4 pm. And still have to fold laundry. and start supper. and its sunday. I need to relax. and quit.

 

Dead headed some violas and that was all, everything was dripping wet from the heavy rain we had earlier!!!
