I'm getting a few Peacocks, Red Admirals and Gatekeepers now in addition to dueling Cabbage Whites. I wouldn't be able to ID any others though!

Our butterflies were very slow to start this year and I was beginning to wonder where they had all gone but then I found a few overwintering ones under a shelf in my shed so I released them as I knew that if they woke up and couldn't get out then they would die.

Gradually as stuff in the garden started to flower then more butterflies appeared but still up haven't managed to get a photo of a Brimstone this year and it isn't for the want of trying.

On the allotment buddleia (sp)we have had Red Admiral,Peacock, small Tortishell but only the odd couple of Cabbage Whites and the smaller versions.

Haven't seen that many ladybirds either this year whereas the other year in the spring the conifer outside my front door was full of them.

I have found that the Brimstones love my pink perennial Sweet Peas which I have growing in both the front and back garden but they wasn't interested one bit when the buddleia(sp) bushes were in flower....

We're still getting loads of butterflies, especially on the V. bonariensis, and it's fascinating to look out the kitchen window to see the patio full of sunbathing butterflies. It's fascinating to see how long they'll just sit in the sun :) Do they get sunburnt?

Not seen any ladybirds but, fortunately, no aphids either.
