Yes Jenny, most of the gardens in our village have high beech hedges. For some reason the previous owners put in a conifer hedge at the front which looks out of place, one day I'll get around to replacing it.

Beech is my all time favourite. We had a red and green beech hedge a few moves back - really pretty in Spring/ Summer,

It wouldn't be a good swap Loli!

The panorama photo is making mine look much bigger than it actually is, roughly it's only 12 X 10 yards. Also I'm on poor thin chalk but worse is being on the north side of a hill meaning it is windy, I reckon my garden is always a couple of weeks behind those down in the sheltered valley. On the other south side of the hill are a couple of vineyards only a few hundred yards from me but a world away in climate terms, I would love a garden on that side of the hill but I'd need to win the lottery a few times to afford it.

            Nice work Kristen.

I replaced my rear beech hedge about 9 years ago, it was hard work as I dug up all the overgrown shrubs by hand. Next door did their other side at the same time and got in a contractor with a mini-digger, they did that in two days. It took me a couple of months! It has taken a while to get established, but this year now looks quite respectable.
