Reserved my seeds (behind Chives, which seemed to be the least popular "peg" - you choose something else pls) ... just ... you know ... on the off chance that there is a sale this year :)

At my local store last year the staff took all the seeds off the pegs, jumbled them up in a couple of big trugs and scattered them randomly on a table. It must have taken a while plus then all us customers had to spend ages rummaging around for the bargains. I'm not sure why they just didn't put up a sale sign and leave them in alphabetic order, I'm sure they would sell more if customers could easily find what they were looking for.

My local does that too, but not until a few days [or maybe a week or two] after the start of the sale, so assuming same-again this year, maybe your store too, best to be first-in-queue :) Probably before the actual end of the month - when they have Prep'd for the promotion.

What's the earliest Wyvale reduce to 50p - is it always after the Bank Holiday? I'm up for checking it out at least one likely day in the run up to the end of the month, although from googling it appears that dates can differ between stores.

I'll pretend I'm taking Mrs Scrungee to the adjacent Lakeland store as a special treat, and I might to be able to call into a different Wyevale another time using a visit to a Chilterns nature reserve as a pretext.

Yes as far as I'm aware, last year my two local stores started their sales on the Thursday following the bank holiday - I'll try to remember to call into the store on my way home from work next week to keep checking :blue thumb:

Called in late afternoon today and the sale had just started, the staff were still taking them off the shelves and crossing out the bar codes so I couldn't get at all the packets. Will have to go back tomorrow. Still managed to get £35.63 worth of seeds for £6.50.

Get down there quick folks :dbgrtmb:

Thanks. Got to go to town tomorrow morning, I'll allow an extra hour (in case someone has moved the row of Chives seeds :heehee:)

At Bridgemere they were only 50% off, which at T&M's prices makes them still more expensive than eBay.

They have been 50% off at my local for a while (a few weeks at least), in previous years that has proceeded the 50p-a-packet sale itself.

I'll try my local one next week. However the number of interesting varieties was getting low but at 50p each I'd overlook that.

I think the 50p sale only starts fully today, it was 50% off at Heathlands yesterday then as I went through the tills the nice chap had to manually knock them all down to 50p, mind you I had been annoying talking to him for about half an hour whilst he was crossing off the bar codes, he even started to put some of the seed packets I was looking for to one side for me, so maybe he was just pleased to get rid of me :)

                  It's started!

I've just got over £30's worth of seeds for £5. They had only just started crossing through the barcodes and putting them into trays so I got mine from the stands and had the barcodes crossed through after I'd made my selection (might be an idea to take a marker pen just in the reducer hasn't finished and is at lunch, etc.).

If you split your haul into individual £5 shops you will get vouchers for a free hot drink at the restaurant (excluding 12:00 to 14:00) with every shop.

Don't forget to take your own carrier bag or you will have to pay 5p for one.

Been to the Binfield store at lunchtime and got 36 packets, I'm pretty much sorted out for seeds for the next year now :)

Hadn't spotted that, on the till receipt :)

They didn't have any bags at either of the stores I've been to, wouldn't have paid 5p if offered though being a skin-flint.

Called in on mine and there was no sign of the sale (still got the 50% off signs up) and couldn't find any of the staff who I thought might know the answer.

My Gardening Club leaflet fell on the mat today - no indication of the 50p-a-packet sale, so it might be at store/manager's discretion? But the leaflet does say that the [September] offers are from 27-Aug which is ... TODAY!

I might hack off to a bigger, further, outlet this afternoon to see if they are ready ...

I went to the smallish one in Allesley, Coventry and got myself a few packets. Didn't go mad as I'm a bit short on space and have loads of my own seed saved. I also don't really go for 'mixed' packets as I like to know what colours I'm getting. Got an interesting delphinium if anyone has any sowing tips for these?
