    Pesto??
I was out with a mate of mine recently, and a few days later he text me telling me to try Pesto.
I eventually found some in a supermarket. Initially I had gone to the garden centre thinking it was an insecticide or alike. The assistant was great though (nice to be served with a smile), and told me to try a food shop.
Anyway, I think its quite nice. I tried it on toast, but its not as nice as peanut butter. I find it quite salty.
Has anyone else ever bought it?

I think you're meant to use it in pasta dishes, but also on Lanzagrotty they boil new potatoes in it and it makes them really delicious.

I think the people of Lanzagrotty boil the potatoes as normal until they're nearly done, then drain them, then finish them in pesto.

Oh I see :), it would definitely save money, so I can understand their reasoning :)

Use lots of Pesto sauce with pasta and on warm new (or tinned small) potatoes. Buy 3 jars for £1.50 from B&M http://www.bmstores.co.uk/stores (long term offer), but we always keep a stock in case they stop selling it). Flavours available are Sweet Peppers, Wallnut & Riccota and Spinach, the latter we only use with salads.

I love Pesto. I use it mixed in with various veg. Especially nice if you make fake pasta out of courgette and mix it in once they are cooked. :)

Which flavour do you use Lea? I was tempted by the hot chilli one in B&M. Maybe another day :)

Although I often make my own it's cheaper to buy it and it's almost as good (sometimes better if I haven't made it properly!).

You can use it with lots of things. Its main use is with pasta and you don't need to use a lot as it's a flavouring. Cook the pasta, drain, put half a tablespoon of butter in the pan, mix in a couple of tablespoons of pesto and then toss the pasta in it. A cheap and easy light snack.

It can even be used as a flavouring to roast some chicken pieces in. Mix half a tablespoon of oil with a tablespoon of pasta until it makes a looser paste. Rub it over the chicken pieces and put in the oven. Or if you use chicken breast, rub it on the breast and cook under the grill.

It can be used in loads of ways.

Wouldn't touch pasta with a barge pole.
But I use sun dried tomato pesto on salmon baked in the oven with onions.

Fantastic stuff, really takes away the muddy taste of the salmon.

I make my own as it is quick and easy and I always have the ingredients around. I prefer a nice green Pesto to any other really. :)

The mixed pepper one is my fave I think. It does leave an after taste similar to when you have been sick though. I will look into making my own :)
