      Hi Jack

      I would go with one of the Alba's the old style that flowers just the once in very late April/May all depends on the weather I have only grown the one (previous house)but I think quite a few to choose from ;
Alberic Barbier , this one can take the shade as well .

Good evening Jack  can I respectfully ask why do you want a climbing Rose only to flower early;)

1.What position/Location will it be in.
2.What is it going to climb.
3.What compass direction will it be facing.

I only ask these questions so that I can advise you correctly:smile:

          Hello wise owl!

I'm planning my garden to be white only up until June. Then after that, I want hot colours and no white :) it's a bit of an experiment to see if I can do both. The main white flowering time will be late April to end of June.

1)it will be on the corner of the house so quite exposed, although the garden is sheltered by other buildings anyway - lots of sun all day but some shade from a tree in the middle of the day.
          2) up a trellis I am going to run up a drain pipe
          3) South mainly, slightly east

Good evening Jack, thank you for the info my friend:smile: well now there's a question:phew:
As far as my Rose knowledge will allow me,the only Roses which are guaranteed to flower only once are white Ramblers which are very vigorous growers.and it cuts your choice down,99% of climbers are repeat flowering,as a drastic but safe solution you could always prune the blooms off of the climber very carefully when the repeat blooms appear:smile:

Jack have a look at this one Mme Legras de St. Germain it is one of the many shrub roses which can be trained as a climber:blue thumb:If you need anymore help just ask:smile:

I have Alberic Barbier, an old rambler which as Spruce said does well in the shade. Just bear in mind in can grow to be huge.

Thanks Spruce and Wiseowl - are there any suitable you know of with pure white, cup shaped flowers rather than the yellow tinge or blousy blooms?

Hi Spruce my friend I think that above Rose is more of a creamy white with pink edges:smile:

Hi Jack blousy blooms just love it;)
So you need a Hybrid tea shape bloom which can be a bush come climber and is really white:smile:

There really isn't one as a generalisation all white Roses have a blend of pale cream or pale pink at some time during their season:smile:

Right, I am decided! I am going to go with Mme Legras de St. Germain! Hoorah! I'll put in the order now :)

I've been really inspired by the London Square garden at Chelsea earlier in the year, and on double checking, these the Mme Legras flowers match closest those on display there (albeit those were displayed as standards): https://www.rhs.org.uk/getmedia/bd4...627_21A7612.jpg?width=940&height=627&ext=.jpg

Also, it looks like Mme Legras has good scent which is a bonus!
