It's sad to hear of the passing of Richard Attenborough although he had a good innings.

A superb actor and producer who entertained millions :love30: :blue thumb:

He died yesterday, at the age of 90, after being in bad health for over a year. He's survived by his widow, Sheila (92) and his son, Michael, and daughter Charlotte. His other daughter, Jane, and grand-daughter, Lucy, died in the 2004 tsunami.

I was honoured to have met him a few times.

Here's me (bottom left) with him and his wife Sheila Sim (also an actress and film star). The picture was taken well over 60 years ago.

Possibly one of the last great British classic film actors. Even though I was brought up with films like Jurassic Park, Miracle on 34th Street etc I will always remember him for how brilliantly he played some really nasty peices of work so convincingly, like Pinky in Brighton Rock and Christie in 10 Riddington Place.

Heard on the news last night that Richard had passed away just short of his 91st birthday.Loved watching his performances in Miracle on 34th street and he is what I always imagined Father Christmas to look like:smile:

Also loved him in the Jurassic Park films and Ghandi and think that he was one of the finest actors to have ever lived.

        RIP Kris Kringle:smile:

          Sad news.
I was going to write to him because he was a friend of my mum (mum was in films, but only as an extra). I think I have one of his letters to her upstairs, and a photo he gave to her.
If I remember rightly, he is telling her about what films he will be working on etc.
It would have been nice to know if he remembered her still.

Really sad news. At his best directing, especially Ghandi and Cry Freedom, but really really good as John Christie in 10 Rillington Place.
