It's raining and "comfort food" beckons. About twice a year, I enjoy a simple meal of sliced lean corned beef, a respectable portion of mashed potato fried in a modest amount if beef dripping and some baked beans. Eaten with last year's homemade Green Tomato chutney.
The simmered damsons went too liquidy to accommodate a topping of Crumble. So, I cooked the crumble in a shallow dish in the oven until golden brown and plopped some on top of the damsons and poured over some double cream,
I know....:nonofinger: very naughty but nice today.

A late 'brunch' of a full English for us, and a chicken slow-roasting in the Aga for later :)

I am rather partial to cottage pie made with corned beef instead of the usual mince.

left husband today with the chore of putting the turkey beast in the oven, it is all ready to go, seasoned and with the foil on it. Lets see how many phone calls I get at work, as yesterday, he had to call me 3 times about baking the potatoes. (I had to go to work). poor baby.

Shouldn't be the case in this day and age though - if you have a mains connection, it should at least be reliable

Just making a curry and it's in its finishing stages. :blue thumb:

I've roasted and ground the seeds of fenugreek (methi), coriander, cumin, cardomum and mustard together with cloves and cinnamon sticks. Added them to lightly fried home grown onions and garlic and some chopped fresh ginger. To that has been added home grown Naga chilli, tomatoes, and bay leaves and a little touch of salt.

Then I've added cubes of leg of lamb (browned) and potatoes and soaked and squeezed tamarind. Yum Yum! :)
