If you're down this way at any time, and I'm around, you would be most welcome. :blue thumb:

Tomorrow Mrs Shiney is teaching a Japanese woman to cook English food for her English husband. I would be doing it but shall be out.

      I never peel mushrooms :)

I wonder how many people chuck them if they're releasing there spores and almost at the point of going slimey?

I never keep them to that stage. Everything is used fresh. :blue thumb:

never peel mushroom either. And I am a foodie. My mushroom quiche was entered in a mushroom cook off in Kennett Sq., PA the mushroom capital of USA. I was one of 20 selected out of 200 entries. Did not win, but still an experience watching judges taste my unpeeled mushroom quiche and all the other unpeeled mushroom entries.

A mushroom festival sounds so cool :)
I like mushrooms, but I have never tried an American one. I usually only ever buy button mushrooms. I bought some tinned mushrooms once but couldn't peel them. I think they were skinless. Not as nice as fresh.

love sliced fresh mushroom on pizza, as the finally topping over the sauce, cheese etc. yum.

I would never refer to a mushroom as skinless.

Mushrooms with everything is the law in my house!!

Not sure that I would refer to tinned mushrooms as mushrooms if I'm being honest:)

Go to your local market and buy some of the very large flat mushrooms. Keep them at room temperature for two or three days and they will start to release the spores. Cook them and see the difference in flavour!

@longk I have seen tools like these used by tin bashers to deburr the edges of sheet metal . Does this form of carbide sharpener work well on kitchen knives ?
I have two problems very dull kitchen knives and buying cruddy knife sharpeners that don't sharpen the blooming things ! I can grind a knife blade on a off hand grinder and hone in on my oilstone but that takes forever.

This one IS a knife sharpener. The best sharpener bar none - a sharpened knife goes through soft tomatoes without squishing them.
Stop using kitchen knives on cheese! Just buy a cheapy to cut cheese.

I might peel a big old flat black-gilled field mushroom if only to check how maggotty it was. The flavour of them puts hairs on your chest!

I wouldn't even consider peeling any other type of mushroom. Or washing them as any type of liquid other than molten butter, cream or good olive oil should never be allowed anywhere near a mushroom.

No idea if I'm a foodie.

LOL. Tinned mushrooms are not peeled or skinless, they just look that way due to the liquid they sit in. I never buy tinned anyway.

Ok, so it seems either leaving the skins on or off are acceptable.
                  What about grapes?

Well I am fed up dating if honest.
I have no trouble getting dates. I get lots of women contact me when they look at my profile, which is nice, but everytime I meet them, they are all the same. Every one of them is forgetful
One last week forgot she had left her oven on, and had to go. Another forgot the window cleaner was coming (who cleans windows in the dark???)
One even said she had left her car keys at the petrol station and had to go and get them quick. I hadn't given it a thought until after she had driven off  , despite offering her a lift there.
I could never date anyone that scatty. I think there is a name for not remembering things, but I can't think what it is. I am sure it will come to me and I will post it.
