Last autumn I sowed some Allium christophii seeds in the cold frame. They duly germinated in the spring at close to 100% (I thought that I sowed 25 seed, but I appear to have 27 small bulbs!?)
I forget about them after just a short while and so they withered away. However, when I emptied the pot I spotted a small bulb. I ended up picking up 27 in the end!

The largest ones are about 5mm in diameter.
I should be labelled a monster for treating them like this but they appear to be tougher than I thought!!

I started with a couple of bulbs and it self seeded to such an extent I have to weed it out from time to time.
However I've tried to grow A schubertii with on joy. No problem in Essex but in Devon I think a combination of the damp and the slugs sees it off after a season or two. Have to give it another go.

I had a few hundred (ish) this year where the seed dropped last year. This was just my back up in case they didn't germinate in situ. I might dig a couple up and see if they're any larger.

It gradually diminished here too and did not set seed either.
