Sounds perfectly delicious Mr Shiny - except for the Naga chilli. A tad too hot for me,

Tonight I shall be making a chicken and veg stir fry. Spring onions, garlic, courgettes, mangetout, carrots (all home grown), plus baby corn, sugar snap, mushrooms, fresh ginger, chopped fresh chillies (home grown) and chicken breast pieces quickly stir fried in a little olive oil with a touch of soy sauce and rice wine. Home grown bean sprouts will be tossed in at the last minute.

Served up with Basmati rice. Prep time 30 minutes, cooking time 10 minutes (in two stages), rice cooked whilst prepping. :blue thumb:

Autumn Bliss, the steak sounds good. I've been buying very good sirloin steaks in Aldi recently (got a load in the freezer). They're very well marbled and are tender and tasty. They're individually shrink wrapped and are £3.69 for an 8oz steak.

Are they UK, EU or Argentinian? Well aged? £3.69 is cheap,

Tonight it's a quickie - Fusilli pasta with sausages in a spicy sauce.
For dessert - another quick one - Fresh fruit salad, fresh fig, apricots and peaches with Cornish ice-cream with honeycomb pieces. images (2).jpg

We've been out to Scarborough today to watch the battle ship fight among other things. Took us all to the pub for dinner. Nice pub, good garden with lots of play apparatus for the kids. CL1.1 wasted no time in joining random other kids to play while waiting for our dinner to arrive.

Wife and I had half a roasted chicken with chips and salad each. 1.1. had something typically kids menu-ish, sausages, chips and peas. 1.2 just had one of his jars, and a few chips off each of us.

It was really nice, eating outdoors in the garden and watching the lad go off and play with the other kids while we just sat there with out drinks.

On the package is a Union Flag stating 100% British and says 'Farmed in UK', 'Slaughtered in UK', 'Packaged in UK', with a 'Farm Assured' label and saying '21 days matured'. So I guess there's no air miles. It's labelled 'Severn Vale'.

Got a load in the freezer and top up again when going past Aldi. :blue thumb: It's thick enough to get nice and brown on the outside and medium rare on the inside with cooking on high heat - and a finishing glaze with butter.

                        EDIT:
I've just done a google search and come up with this:-

                        https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/product-range/fresh-bakery/best-of-british-meat/beef/

I see the price is now £3.49 (they haven't had the 'dry aged sirloin' in our local store.

Hey! Aldi, can I have some commission? :heehee: A case of steak will come in handy :blue thumb:

Thank you for that useful info. Mr Shiny. Fascinating isn't it ? How a foreign food chain can offer good quality beef at that price and still be content with its profit margin. Our own BIG BULLY BOYS are losing ground - I heard Tesco's is not "enjoying" the thinner end of its bunch of fivers like it used to.
When will they take note and LISTEN?
                          Jenny
I will look out for Aldi - a new branch is opening in Hastings - about 6 miles away and an easy journey and I will try this beef.
