Thank you Jenny, although it's a quiet area it's fairly busy with tourists this time of year.

I was in Douglas earlier this evening scouting for pictures for this months photo competition 'Street Furniture' and took these. All taken on North Quay around the inner harbour.

Britain is lovely, and I love the seal lounging on his belly wile looking peeved at your invading his space like some paparazzi rat. And I gave you disagrees so you would notice I was here..

p.s. I never can see stacked cannon balls without thinking of Vonnegut's 'Ice 9'

And those psycho looking sheep! Not the bland, mutton on the hoof things we normally think of sheep! I am reminded of an American flag; it is one of USA's official flags......

Spotted your post Jenny - I got an alert that Sheal had posted here. I stay off on my political frothing sites mostly - but nice to see the Isle so magically.

The Gadsden flag is a historical American flag with a yellow field depicting a rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike. Positioned below the rattlesnake are the words "Dont [sic] tread on me". The flag is named after American general and statesman Christopher Gadsden (1724–1805), who designed it in 1775 during the American Revolution. It was also used by theContinental Marines as an early motto flag, along with the Moultrie Flag. In modern times, the Gadsden flag is sometimes associated with the Tea

See this old picture below @colne, I was standing on that piece of turf right at the bottom of the picture when I took the one of the seals basking on the rocks across the water. There was about 80 to a 100 yards between us. The power of a zoom lens did the rest! :)

These pictures were all taken around sunset today. The first five were at a small bay called Fleshwick. Unknown to tourists it rests at the bottom of a long, downhill, one track road and is one of my favourite places. So peaceful and a good place to escape to, I can visit there and be completely on my own with just the sea and wildlife for company.

How beautiful The British Isles are! here is beautiful, but in a rougher cut way where most of man's works are not pretty and melded into the land. I have those same cormorants in my back yard in winter when frozen out up North - they are bad news for fish farmers but have not invaded my pond fortunately, like the odd heron does, they look like geese when in flight. The water on the beach pictures makes me want to go out in a small boat and set lobster traps and catch some mackerel. That all is so familiar way back in my brain when I used to spend lots of time in the lonelier bits of British coast.

Thank you Mowgley and Colne. :)

When the weather is good the island can be so pretty. A lot of the landscape is very much like Scotland, which is not surprising as many moons ago it was part of it. Taking the pictures of the clouds on high ground I was shivering, the temperature at that point was only 7C/44F and dropping, we have a frost due tonight!

Colne, these shots were taken on the south-west coast, I live in the north west of the island and all along that coast small boats go out to set traps for crabs and lobsters, they also fish for Queenies here but they are restricted at the moment due to depletion of availability.
