Are Nicotiana perennials?

    They did better than folk thought they would - they put on a good show, much earlier than the self-sown ones, and probably on a par with the ones I greenhouse-raised and planted out

      I suspect that confirms my thoughts that they will go when they're ready as long as they have some rootstock.

      See above. March/April seems early enough to me.

        Nightmare keeping stuff alive over winter if it doesn't want to be, of course. But I was thinking of trying to mollycoddle some Ricinus, to have Giants next year ... and a few others too. Perhaps Nicotiana was just a pipe dream!

          I would have thought that Ricinus would be a far better proposition............
