Lovely pictures LongK. I envy you in having such a place within visiting range.

I still haven't heard anything about my Thunbergia mysorensis. I e-mailed them again earlier this evening. But my T. battiscombei is lovely - still small but every now and then putting out a beautiful dark blue flower.

You kindly sent me some seeds for Bauhinia variegata, and I have three nice small plants, thank you. I have also found 5 small Bauhinia galpinii that I grew from seed last year - I hadn't realised I had got them. Looking at internet pictures of variegata and galpinii I am pleased to see that they seem to be quite different colours, whilst B. glauca is another new one for me.

That Clerodendron is gorgeous. I thought mine (thompsoniae and wallchii) had died as they lost all their leaves not long ago, when everything else was sprouting. But thankfully they have put on new leaves now - so I am looking forward to my first Clerodendron flowers some way off in the future. I would love to find a splendens - though I think its gets pretty big.

And I love pictures of Eremurus. I have tried but they won't grow for me. They hate clay and they hate pots - and I have pots of both.

It is the passageway and grown in similar conditions to what I would guess that you are aiming for. Interestingly, it appears to have more of a climbing habit.

That was blooming well too, but the passageway was too busy for me to get a decent shot. My baby T.gregorii is coming along nicely - amazing how rapidly they grow once they get going.

Isn't it just! Like the Bauhinia and Thunbergia it grows in the passageway. Quite big, but not huge.

They're growing in a bed that is zero maintenance. Seed was chucked down a couple of years ago and the plants survive or self seed. Not a good look, but really interesting to see what thrives, what dies out and what just plods along.

Took a proper day off today and went to the botanic gardens. There was still plenty to see even with the ongoing maintenance (this time the orangery was shut and several beds sealed off).
