I'm not so sure Val. Anyone in their right mind would probably have called out to the person in the bathroom before using a gun!

 

Yep he's getting off light.
But lets wait and see what sentence he gets.

My thoughts are it was not murder, but I'm pretty sure he knew who was in there, when he shot at the door.

If someone shot at a door I was behind, the last thing I would do would be to come out.
I think he just lost it, probably a fit of temper, but the outcome is still the same.

 

You're thinking along the same lines as me, I think they quarrelled, she hid in the bathroom and wouldn't come out and he 'lost it' as you say which is why he fired several times, he probably thought she was over by the loo but she was behind the door so the bullets hit her!!

He does know his guns though and the damage they can do, so ,as has been said maybe a fit of temper because otherwise he would have known that although firing at the door he was going to seriously hurt someone in such a confined space.

Is it to obvious for me to think that if should I have heard an 'intruder' the first thing i'd have done is nudge the person next to me to see if they'd heard something to?

 

Loli, other half and I were discussing this with a friend last night and she wouldn't/couldn't take on board what you have said above. There's also the fact that you would sense if not see that your other half was in bed before you left it, unless they were sleeping in a different room.
