    I've been out most of today but potted up one of two Sambucus cuttings that I decided to try and root in water. They were successful of course! :)

    I've had the sprinkler going on the beds for a couple of hours this evening and always manage to get soaked moving it around.......yes, I know, the tap turns off! :heehee:

        Today I did a fair bit of potting on, stripped my tom plants of leaves and sowed some delphinium (avatar), phlox (moody blues) and antirrhinum (day and night) seeds. As well as killing about 10 slugs.
        I think my soilblocker is my favourite ever garden purchase.

          I did my first Summer Prune of Espallier Apples - now in their second year (planted early Spring 2013). Bit hard to see what is what with the hedge behind, sorry!). Probably should have pruned them a month ago ...

          Now I just need to tie-in the sideways growth whilst it still has some flex in it :)

          Well pleased that I have managed to fill 4 tiers in own two growing seasons :) The plants came as feathered whips, rather than maidens as expected, which helped.

              Well today I had a clear out and I was RUTHLESS!!!! the criteria was, if that plant died would I buy a replacement and if the answer was "No" I got rid of it!!! I now have a small bag full of dug up plants and the prospect of re-choosing which is always exciting. :yahoo: roll on Spring.

                  The war on pests continues. I just squashed four vine weevils and five stink bugs. It's not just slugs eating my plants! lol will probably invest in vine weevil nematodes this week in an attempt to rid the garden of them for next year.

                    I have a small [12'] tree in one of the borders to dig up tomorrow. It's a wild seedling that has grown over the years and I've meant to dig it up and then got diverted......so tomorrow it's.......Timber!!!
                    I've also got at least two Shrubs to dig up [an Escallonia and Baggins Gold] from the border in front of the Kitchen window where the circular concrete base is going to go for the Observatory. Plus the fence around the Wildlife pond has started to collapse under the weight of the Jasmine and Clematis hedge that I've not trimmed for a year or two. So I'll have to cut the hedge right back to reduce the height and weight and then repair the fence and gate.:coffee::snork:

                      I was removing turf:phew:,then decided to set about my GH,stripped all the leaves off the toms and got rid of all but half a dozen plants,the rest were all but done(a job I normally tackle in early November but seem to be a few weeks in front this year) put the staging back up,the GH needs a really good clean but I'm already filling it up again with cuttings:rolleyespink:

                      Today...digging over some borders ready to fill with top soil ,after I've cemented the edging in and I really ought to sort out my Leaf mould heap ready for the next round of leaves:autlvs:....:dbgrtmb:

                        Hi loli. No, I'm afraid I didn't as the second Siren Box for my new alarm system arrived today so I spent most of today up and down a ladder, drilling holes and fitting the Siren. Plus, as always , the system needed a little tweaking to get both Sirens to work properly and together......but it works now!!:yes::snork:
                        But the tree has not been forgotten:nonofinger::heehee: So it's a definite job for tomorrow. The saw is already off it's hook and ready. The trouble is it will be a bit of a struggle due to the tree hiding between the Lilac, a variegated Mock Orange, a Spirea, Hydrangea, and a load of deliberately grown Nettles!!!:hate-shocked:. So it will be a case of being in dirt old clothes, with arms covered and wearing gloves as I go into the border to tackle it.......you just know I'm going to get stung to pieces!!:dunno::hate-shocked::cry3::heehee:
                        Having mentally put the Tree into a "Tomorrow Job" though the Alarm System work led to another job and then another and another:wallbanging:.:dunno:...........so I am jiggered now!!:phew:

                          I've heard say Nettle stings are good for you:blue thumb:...especially if you should have arthritis,:rolleyespink: even I know you won't feel joint pain after you've been stung to death by nettles:rolleyespink:...Good luck:thumbsup:

                            Well, loli, I've never suffered from arthritis but I do reckon I'll be going:hate-shocked: :gaah::hate-shocked::gaah: after chopping, sawing and digging up the tree among the Nettles. I'll probably make the decision to dig up the shrubs in the Kitchen border as well to make way for the concrete base...............in for a penny, in for............:heehee:

                              More weevil squashing, loads of the buggers.

                              Besides that, today I started my big bulb plant. I've planted some hyacinths for indoors and out. Some star of Bethlehem because I love them (though breaking my cat safe code - I'll keep in a pot on a window ledge), a bag of free dwarf narcissi.

                              I also have white tulips, white narcissi and white crocus which were going into a bulb lasagne tomorrow - but need to rethink that plan as tulips have to be planted so much later.

                              Still to come, 20 or so alliums!
