A local craftsman near here uses a Snail as his hallmark - he does nice [signs and notice] boards outside churches and so on, go round the back and there is a little snail carved into the frame. Same thing if you buy a table, or whatever, off him.

Have you got a hallmark and/or a "stamp" that you can emboss on your work, under-belly of the birds for example? In the event that your work becomes much sought-after it would separate originals from copies - even without a registered trademark someone who included your "emblem" on a copy would be regarded as "passing off" (although that is expensive to prosecute) and if you get to the point where you want to you could then [i.e. retrospectively] register a Trademark for your emblem (much cheaper to see someone off who reproduces a work and includes a registered trademark 'coz you don't have to prove that they were damaging your trade, which is the case with passing off prosecutions, just that they used your Trademark without permission)

 

I have a emblem/ image I came up with myself but don't know how to emboss it onto my tiny carvings. Its a bumble bee and at the moment I've just been making little tags with them on.

I have a pyrography pen and it would be great to get a bee stamp made up so I could burn my TM onto them quickly and in small hard to reach places. Don't know where to look for something like that. I know of people who sell mass produced bee stamps for wood but I want something a bit more unique, otherwise its not my trade mark.

Yeah but if I got a ironworker in it would cost a lot of money.

Was toying with the idea of getting some tungsten wire and shaping this into a bee. Running an electric current through it to heat it to a high temperature.

I'm not sure if I can carve a heron or have the time before Christmas tbh. My schedule is a bit full up at the moment to carve a huge heron lol

After 9 days of my exhibition as part of the local art trail I am pleased to announce I made nearing £100. Almost double what I was expecting/ hoping for.

Today a lady approached me and asked for me to do a commission for her too. Plenty of other people have said they would go to the shop that these will return to but I do wonder how many are serious about it.
