We have a fish van come here once a week and today I went to buy some fish I asked the lady serving if she had any coley because I like the taste and texture of coley, she looked disapprovingly at me and said "No" so I bought some haddock, Her reaction didn't surprise me, my neighbour where I used to live would only ever eat cod or plaice, I asked her once if she ever bought coley and she said "only to feed to my cat"!!! :dunno::heehee:

    They sell coley in Morrisons.

I must say its not my favourite but its still good fish.
Better than that Bassa stuff by a long way.

I'm with you on this one Val as I rather like coley too. I buy mine in Lidl. But people look at me odd when I say that I prefer trout to salmon too.

Next time ask if they've got any locally caught fish like Gurnard and Trigger and then tell them to sod right off because of their attitude :paladin: One less customer.

I thought rock salmon was the London term for Huss years ago.
But I'm told Huss is now any old dog fish that you can catch, but at one time it was a specific type.

I remember the Fishermen at Hastings when they'd beached their boats by the Harbour and were off loading their catches used to called Angler Fish and Dog Fish and other stuff "Rock Salmon".:dunno::snork:

Huss is a Bull Huss, bigger relative of the Dogfish, but much the same in texture.

They'll be in along the Chesil soon Val, bit rough fishing for them in the winter months though.
