Only in the ones who "think" about it. Sadly, so many more have learnt it from their parents.

I don't hate foreign people, I simply resent the fact that whole areas of Britain is now overtaken with them, I resent being forced to integrate with them, I also think that most people including you @clueless1 are less than honest on the racist issue, if you went to view a house which turned out to be your dream house but your neighbours either side and most of the other houses in the road were occupied with black people, or indian people or even chinese people could you honestly say, hand on heart that it wouldn't influence your decision on whether or not to buy the house??? of course it would, we want to be around our own kind, I consider that to be perfectly natural. Will you not mind if your son's want to marry black girls? your grandchildren being half caste? yes you would mind, at least I am honest about how I feel.

It would - I would probably be more likely to buy it. The best neighbours I ever had were Bangladeshi immigrants.

I don't think so, longk, for several reasons. Yes, parents can influence children but usually for only a period and to be honest that is a narrow view. These days with the speed of communication via television, the Net, etc the electronic age influences all ages more dramatically. You only have to watch official News Channels such as Fox News to detect questionable undercurrents running behind the banners of "The price of Freedom":dunno:.
We also have to recognise that Racism, Sexism, etc is not just in our country but global and that those themes run throughout all levels of Society. It's not just so called "YOBS" who are racists or have other phobias, there are plenty of intelligent people in places of authority and/or power who carry their own hatreds and fears of race, sexism, culture, religion etc.

Maybe we should have a poll on that description of Clegg as it could be something that everybody agrees on.

Britain is indeed overrun with foreigners. Romans, Celts, Norse, Norman, Angles, numerous Teutonic tribes, and a good many people who are directly descended from people who were born and bred within the British empire.

Nobody forces you to integrate with anyone. Opportunities are created for people to integrate more if they wish, and they are encouraged, but not forced, to do so.

Having spent 10 years in a street exactly as you describe, and having made lots of friends, and then moving to an area where everyone is white and most are born and bred within the same postcode area, I can honestly, hand on heart say that it would indeed influence my decision. If I move again, I'll be looking for a more diverse neighbourhood. The atmosphere is just better. In the diverse areas, people recognise that there is a massive world of challenges and opportunities out there. Whereas round here, people recognise that there is a corner shop, and the outside world consists largely of 'town' which is 1 mile away.

I will be absolutely ecstatic if either of my sons finds anyone to share their lives with that makes them truly happy. If I am blessed with the great honour of getting grandkids, they will be treasured blessings if they are white, black, 'half caste', green with purple polka dots, alien or otherwise.

On the subject of integration, you have to admit that most immigants dont actually want to integrate with our society, they like to form their own communities.

I'm not saying that is surprising, wrong or right, I just find it normal.

Look at many countries around the world, "china towns" exist in lots of places and have a name, but the same goes on with other nationalities in a very similar way.
Look at the Brits in Spain for example.

Immigration, for "most" is not about integrating with the natural population, its about getting a better life than the one you had.

Not sure. Racism can be deeply ingrained into a persons psyche and that happens during the formative years.

In my experience most DO integrate and enjoy it. They make friends outside of their communities easily given the opportunity. That said, I agree that they value their own communities too. It is these communities that they turn to first if they need help.

Agree. I make no bones about the fact that in a few years I will sell up and retire abroad. I'm lucky that the UK has given me the opportunity to work towards an early retirement.
But in many ways I've been living like an immigrant myself since I was 21. Initially as an immigrant in Oz and The Netherlands (plus long periods in New Zealand and SE Asia) and then by going without (eg; my personal cars are what most would call piles of poo, no fancy holidays for many years) and working towards the future.

I don't mind foreigners coming to our country if they have something to offer..Its the buggers that come here and bleed our system and have nothing to give back in return..

Indeed some immigrants do bleed the system. It used to annoy me if I had to go and see my GP when I lived in Sheffield, and I would hear the receptionist offering to get a translator. I'd think, 'I'm paying for that, and I wouldn't get a paid for translator if I went to their country'.

But I firmly believe that the spongers are in the minority. The street I lived in was like united nations. There were people from everywhere, and our street was, honestly, like Sessame Street. You couldn't walk out of your front door without ending up chatting for ages with someone. I remember if I had a problem with my car, I'd just go out and pop the bonnet. Within seconds I'd have several of the neighbours out, gathered round the car, chatting away, all pretending they knew what might be wrong under there (I'm not even exaggerating). One of my favourites was a jolly aged Afro-Caribbean chap whose name I never learned, but he had this massive booming laugh for everything, and used to offer every time to wash my car for 50p. But anyway, I digress. By far the majority were ordinary hard working people. Its just like any section of society. Some immigrants sponge, but most have a culture of working hard, taking the jobs that very often the lazy job-dodging 'natives' can't be bothered to do.
