Considering its so warm and dry would it be best to wait a bit later this year to plant the bulbs?

I need to plant mine all at the same time esp the alliums and tulips the plan is to just mix them up and chuck them and plant them where they land so im thinking it would be best to wait till november

But im not sure. Any advice would be great.

    How daft is that!

I'm pretty sure they import from Holland, so might be more worthwhile, for you, finding a bulk supplier in Holland who will ship to you?

Strongly recommend that you plant Snowdrops "in the green", so around March / April time.

Thanks again @Kristen. I'll definitely have a look and try and source a supplier that will deliver "in the green" snowdrops to France. That will also give me more time to see what comes up this year and where, and plan where they're needed most.

I have to just add that I can't praise Anglia Bulbs customer service dept enough. Because my Dad's ill I've been back and forward between UK and France for the past few months, and still am. I emailed them and they couldn't have been more helpful, letting me know exactly when they were packing and dispatching my order and happy to ship to whichever address I was going to be at when the order went out.

Plant these now. Dig the hole a lot wider and deeper then backfill with a very gritty/sandy mix. The bulb wants to be 25 to 30cm deep and on its side.

It's that time of year again where we all get to scour the shops for the best deals on spring bulbs for the garden :) I managed to pick up some bargains at Lidl 20 Hyacinth bulbs for just £3.49 and packs of 12 Tulips for £1.29 or 5 packs for £5! you can't beat that on a small scale, I was somewhat miffed that some cheeky git had beat me to the 20 packs of mixed Crocus at Poundland though... two entire boxes gone! I'm going for a blue theme for my pots this winter, I have some Pansy plugs in the post 'Frizzle Sizzle Blue' and I'm hoping I can pick up some Grape Hyacinth on the cheap from somewhere and I plan on planting them up with some nice trailing Ivy's and perhaps some dark leaved Heuchera and then hopefully I'm going with pinks and oranges for April/May now just to come up with ingenious ways to keep the less savoury neighbours from stealing my pots come spring! :stirpot:

@IceColdRum what are the orange tulips in the pic they are gorge?

To stop pots being dug up i stick soil sieves over the top upside down so the bulbs can pop up but nothing can get in. Works really well with stopping my cats using then as a toilet.

Just typed that and now thinking u might mean people lol

Yes I meant people but now you mention the cats I'll have to devise something for them as well... hopefully over planting should help to deter them. I'll have to have a look to see what the cultivar name is of the orange Tulips is when I get home, they were the last two packs they had in my local store it took me ages to find a second pack.

I've bought a bunch of bulbs for spring... But my crocus have sprouted and one is about to flower right now! Five months early! Should I have waited until it is colder?!
