5 x rolls of copper tape for £11 from Ebay arrived today. That's a whole 20 meters of slug and snail protection. I'm inappropriately excited!

Flower spikes Eucomis are looking good and setting seed , should I be cutting off so all the energy goes back in to the bulb ? as I dont want to collect the seed , I bet a flower arranger would love them as they do looks so unusual shame to put in the compost bin.

Cut them off then.
However.................. the seed may very well revert back to the parent so it might be good to keep a few?

 

The ones in question are "Pink Gin" I have already cut down" Sparkling Burgundy" but the leaf cuttings "PG" are looking as fresh as when I took them .... its just the lack of space plus all the daylily seedlings I already have ... that I will somehow ? find the room for ... where I do not know but I have mentioned before I may make up a bed where I keep the bees as the guy woudnt mind , but his chickens do wander at times !!! but I have a feeling the bees may have sorted that problem out for me as they are not wanting me or anything else now its the end of the summer nosing about in that area.

I will keep a few them do I sow them fresh ?

Just bought (from Duchy of Cornwall online nursery, which I've found very good in the past):

Southern Magnolia 'Little Gem' (wanted one for years but not sure how hardy it would be in my area)
Syringa vulgaris 'Souvenir de Louis Spaeth'.

Just need to decide where they're going - will probably have to get rid of some plants to accommodate them.

They'll be going in tubs so easily enough moved.

 

The Brunnera macrophylla 'Mr Morse' I posted about last month have sprung back to life. I've also received some high quality bulbs from Anglia Bulbs and some salvias from Ebay. They seem to be doing fairly well so far.

which also has other implements - I bought the de-thatcher, but there is also a roller for example.

They have been brilliant, I did all the lawns - leaves swept, de-thatched and hollow-tined in an afternoon, and then picked up all the "stringy hay" and cores, after they had dried, with the sweeper the following afternoon.

Went to dig up some Bamboo that a chum kindly offered me, fitted in the car loverly

 

Wow! Black bamboo...will it grow any bigger?

 

The [new] canes will grow fatter, and probably taller - dunno how much, 25%-30% I expect.
