Tulips are planted in November ... you still have time ;)

It was the clean up operation at our abode today and then a bit of moving and shuffling to create a quiet retreat for me and a more permanent spot for my girlies :chicken::chicken::chicken:. Not too much else will be happening until Spring now (although I do have bulbs I need to plant).

I got out the Pole Hedge Trimmer today to cut through the foliage of my neighbour's conifer that was overlapping into my garden and over shadowing a White Flowering Buddleia. The neighbour and I know each other well and he borrows my Green Wheelie Bin when his is full.
Then I used the smaller Hedge Trimmer to cut the Jasmine and Clematis Hedge that runs along my Wildlife Pond. I hadn't trimmed it for around 3 years so the weight had collapsed the fence that runs parallel with it. So I cut it down from around 8' to 3' knowing it will be back to 6' next year. The amount of trimmed Jasmine and Clematis debris was enormous but it's good "fodder" for my Compost Heap.
There was also a huge amount of debris floating on the surface of the pond so I netted what I could off and then donned the trusty Chest Waders, put Secateurs and Scissors into the Chest Pocket and went for a paddle. I cut back and pulled out all the over hanging foliage, dead stalks, leaves etc while the Fish got curious and decide to circle me like Sharks!! The amount of debris I collected by cutting and pulling was huge but it was all thrown onto the seating area and left for any insects etc to crawl back into the water.
Then, because I was not intending to go back into the pond again for a while I dredged out a fair amount of mud and old rotting leaves, stalks and other things on the bottom with my hands and that was thrown onto the surrounding banks. As the pond is over 3' in depth in parts my arms were in up to the shoulders in what I realised was water becoming colder with the onset of Autumn, I was just glad that I had my Chest Waders on!!
After that I got out of the pond and skimmed the surface again with the net to get rid of more floating leaves etc. Then I clumped up to the House in the Waders and made a mug of Tea and came back down to the pond to sit on the Bench and look at what I'd done. While I was drinking the Tea and thinking "Missed that bit!" the Frogs started up croaking in what I assumed was approval, which was nice:heehee:.
Since the fence needs a complete overhaul I finished the Tea and then cut some timber for posts and left them standing in a bucket of Creosote Substitute overnight to stop them rotting for a few years when in position. Then it was time for another mug of Tea:coffee::yes:

Whoops! I looked back on my post about the new path I made and see that some gremlin had changed the before and after photos to only after photos.  (couldn't possibly have been my fault :heehee:.) So I've changed it back. :blue thumb:

I've had to upgrade Plan C to Plan C (2) as buying lawn edging isn't going to work. So I'll get some angle iron to bury in the edge of the bed to support the slabs. Next stop, a wrought iron company :dbgrtmb:

Ah yes ... but the thing that separates the Men from the Boys is the SIZE of their toys :heehee:

Sorry about that Lolli. You got room for it then? I think it was reasonably priced, considering the time it will save me :)

Having a good burn up, it had got to over 2m high and as rain was forecast for today it had to go. I couldn't get near enough to retrieve the old fork I'd been using to heap it up, hope the plastic handle hasn't melted.
