I've just rolled the above fruit onto a set of scales and it went 236lb, 16lbs heavier than when I measured it with a tape measure. That's pretty good and shows that the OTT measurement is reasonably accurate.

    Steve...:)

I've broke into the 300lb range, just taped up the brute today and its 303lb, and still growing a couple of pound a day! A few shots here now.

            That's some good weight Steve
Can I ask what plant it is on as one of mine think the 900 lb one I forgot the full weight few like that with no meat at the front was really thin more or less straight to the seed

It's on the 427 Richard and was a long fruit after pollination. I was going to cut it initially as I had another growing on that plant, but did not have secateurs to hand at that moment so left it for the next day to do. The next day the Rooks that also decimated my pea harvest this year, maliciously pecked holes in the good fruit on that plant, in fact they pecked all of the fruit from 3 plants and ignored the long one on the 427.

That fruit "sulked" for some time and did nothing for about two weeks then decided to start growing, and is what it is now.

Next year everything will be protected and I should get a good months growth extra on all my pumpkins.

On a lighter note, I took one of my harvested pumpkins round to the Church next door to me for the harvest festival yesterday (94lb), jaws dropped to the floor when I wheeled it in, in a wheelbarrow! It went down a storm today and was a big talking point at todays service.

            Steve...:)

Our first year growing pumpkins, and when I say "grow", I really mean "put the seeds in the ground and watered for the first few weeks before we got too busy and ignored them"

Not too bad for a neglection, I think.

And a lot of water, job done.

Harvested and transported mine home this morning as we had a light frost last night. My Anne has been in touch with local paper and they are coming to photograph it.

                  Steve...:)
