My daughter starts a new job shortly with the Mercedes Driving Academy, it'll be interesting to see what she makes of them. :)

I'm with you on that! My son actually likes them! Everything that's ugly isn't necessarily bad, what's it like to drive and maintain Longk?

You're right the demise of Saab is very sad!

That's a toughie @Sheal - first glance (on a phone which doesn't help) looks like a Corvette, but then again there are a few 'Germanic' touches in there reminiscent of VAG or Merc.

I delivered a customers car back last week and he insisted I had a drive of his latest addition - a Mercedes S63 AMG..................

Utterly incredible performance for such a huge car (0 to 60 in about 4.5secs) and the MagicRide system means that speed bumps and their ilk cease to exist. But...............it was still utterly soulless. If I could blow £100000 on a car it would still be a 300SEL 6.3.................

I got to play with a friends new (to him) Porsche Cayenne the other day - - made a nice noise admittedly, and was a comfy enough motor, but didn't feel all that special to me. He is happy with it which is what counts, but it wasn't my brew.

Not really. It's hard to define, but it's not so much the gizmos as the way that the whole comes together. It lacks that hard to describe air of class and quality. Basically, it just feels like a BeeEmm or Lexus with a Merc badge.

He's a brave man! Did he not Google Cayenne engine failure?! Rare on the newer ones, but still enough to put me off. Mind you, the water cooled flat sixes are prone to engine failure too, so I'm not than keen on modern Porsche in general.

I doubt he Googled anything to be honest. He was originally going to go for an RX-8 until I put him onto the horrible truth about the running costs etc, however less than a week later I got a picture emailed 'look what I bought....'

His is the 3.2 and is a 2006 car if that makes any difference? What is it that fails on them?

If aint got a v8 it aint great :dbgrtmb:

I could spend all day posting cars ha ha ha I love US muscle cars 1960-1980 and I have a soft spot for several others later muscle cars I find BMW's, Audi's and Mercs offensive :)

Of course you can't go wrong with a GTO judge

              1969_GTO_Judge.jpg

              or of course a Challenger

Ahhh...........a VW Touareg then! Actually, fairly reliable engine wise.

The only two 3.2s we had on our books are long gone. The first was scrapped owing to head gasket failure (the owner refused to throw any more money at it), and the second required a timing chain so she traded it for a Merc ML (another bleedin' liability!). I'm sure that I was told that VW produced a modified chain tensioner to combat premature chain issues on some cars.
