      Arbroath Smokies - just heaven!
It's all just marketing fashions isn't it. They could barely sell a pilchard for love nor money until Marks came up with the Cornish sardine tag, now they have a good market.
Maybe we need to rebrand a few more fish, lost for names tho'

I was in Arbroath a while ago and had Smokies straight out of the smokehouse, still warm and just eaten as they were out of paper whilst sitting on the harbourside...MMmmmmmm.

I like Hake best of all and get it from the fish market in Weymouth, it isn't always available, not locally sourced and read that it is one of the 'unsustainables,' should I be eating it?

Should they be selling it?? is more to the point. if it is there and on sale then you may as well eat it.

I picked a tiny piece of this in Penvins, Gulf de Morbihan. I think it's Samphire?
Can you advise please Zigs? Incidently, gathering flora and fauna from the shoreline is Not permitted but the gathering of crustaceans ( by hand ) is OK,

                    That's interesting, Jenny.

Telegraph: "There's a wealth of sea vegetables to be found around Britain. It's just a case of knowing what to look for," says Evans. All you need is a knife, a swimming costume and, for the deeper-water varieties that grow on submerged rocks, a snorkel.

Guardian: Hunting for food in sunny woodlands is all very well, but seashore foraging is the real deal - and the rewards are much more enticing than a handful of wilting weeds or potentially fatal fungi.
It has been positively encouraged in recent years.
