"following"

whats the whole following thing about? been dying to ask as not long after i joined someone else did and i got a notification they were following me. but why? just find it a little odd sorry if it upsets people i just dont get it?

 

Not exactly sure; it sounds sort of religious though, as in which religion do you follow, or which football team.
I think it may have something to do with this twittering (or was it twerking) that minor celebrities do.
I know that if I started following someone I would soon hear a knock on the door as the local constabulary came calling.

 

It used to be called "Friends List" till some programer decided to copy twitter

Please don't worry, maria, it's nothing sinister ... do remember this is a gardening forum and, to gardeners, "stalk[ing]" is normal

 

Even eBay has changed from "Saved Search" to "Following a search". Gawd knows why, I would have thought it was less understandable to the majority of their punters, rather than more-so.
