You pointed, you shot and got two great pics, nothing wrong with a point and shoot!:dbgrtmb:
As I said they are still scarce down here (not breeding yet) and never seen perching.

I'm not sure what bird made this in our apple tree but the size of the twigs are pretty big!

I went back to my plot with my OMD + 75 -300 zoom, that Red Kite was back in the same apple tree, and it flew off as soon as it saw me!

About 10 mins walk away there's a place where up to 30 Red Kites gather of an evening, most of them perching, not great for pics as it's when the light's fading.

Don't know . There were always three crows but only one attacked the door. He was easily recognised because of a brown dot on his wing.

They've not been around for a while :fingers crossed:

I know very little about nesting habits but I thought pigeons usually nested higher up than that nest. you can't see from the picture but it was about eight or nine feet up in an apple tree.

They do nest lower if the site seems right, my mum's garden has a neighbour's Hawthorn over hanging her garden about 15ft high and a pair of Woodies nest in there only a couple of feet above the 6ft high fence.

I put a Blue Tit nesting box up in the summer, knowing that there is no guarantee that it will be used and it was too late to be used anyway (they only have one brood) but we now have one Blue Tit roosting in it.:blue thumb:
Came in at about 5.30 yesterday and today we could see him/her from the conservatory quite clearly. They roost alone but we hope the box will be used next Spring.

I've now got to spend some time bird watching. Apparently we have a bird nesting in our bat box. It's opening is extremely narrow and at the bottom of the box. So the bird has to climb into it vertically. It's going to have to be a very small bird!

If the weather is OK later on I'll take a photo of the box and am happy to take suggestions on what bird it will be. Mrs Shiney spotted a bird going in but wasn't quick enough to see what it was.

Goldcrest? I think they nest though.

This same Red Kite seems to spend most of the day in one of my apple trees. Next time I'll take a tripod/monopod rather than shooting hand held.

I keep finding wasps in my house, fished out 4 dead ones from behind the tv, along with the regular ones I keep gassing. I can't find where they're coming in!! Should I be worried?
