    5 years prison but will probably do no more than 10months of that. Personally I am pleased with this sentence, I think the judge was extremely fair, we could do with some judges like her over here!!

        I see the S.African legal system is as ridiculous as it is over here, get 5 yrs, which might be fair ish, get out in 10 months??
        Sounds like a joke to me.

        Dont forget he killed somebody.
        And it wasn't an accident.
        He was actually trying to kill somebody, even though he says he thought it was someone else.

            Absolutely, how on earth they managed to drag out an open and shut case for so many months is beyond belief, hasn't he already spent more time in the dock then he will serve in jail?

            It's the same in this country, it's not about justice it's about a gravy train for lawyers and judges. They will all be able to write books about it to earn another fortune, then of course there will be the appeals. Not to mention the mass media feeding frenzy, the whole spectacle leaves me feeling very cold.

              I think he got off lightly too. And it's funny how when the trial was going on, the family wanted nothing less than life, but they're now happy with what he's got. Money really does make the world go round... Can't believe they accepted money off him during the trial, surely that would constitute perverting the course of justice? Or is that par the course in SA's legal system? Cynical, moi?...

                I'm still confused why we're seeing so much of it. How does this effect the UK?

                  I have to agree.. He got off too lightly..! He is not a very nice person as far as I can tell anyway.. He was known for taking steroids and that made him very temperamental. He has already got off lightly in the past on police charges.. To me he knew what he was doing. He lived in a gated community where intruders do not go for goodness sakes. Guilty but a rubbish sentence, although I admire Reeva,s parents their forgiveness.!!!

                    I read that article, and at least two of those tips were common sense in my eyes.

                      Oh he definitely got off lightly. I agree that Reeva's parents accepted it very well.

                      @clueless1 This is hilarious. :loll:

                      I think the whole case is a disgrace, why the charged was lowered from murder I will never understand. The fact that Reeva took her mobile to the toilet was damning in my opinion, I think they were arguing, she feared for her life so grabbed her phone, locked herself in the toilet and he shot her to stop her calling anyone.

                      I can't believe the family accepted money from him, life sure is cheap in South Africa!

                        I know lots of people who take their phones to the loo with them as they are so worried that they might miss a text coming in from their friends.It was stated last week that the average mobile phone user looks at their phone 1700 times a day.:hate-shocked:Glad that I am not average:snork:

                        The only person that really knows what went on that night is Oscar Pistoris and we can speculate until the cows come home as to what went on that night and until Judgement day when the truth will be revealed we need to perhaps let Reeva rest in peace and her family left to try and move on with their lives as best as they can:sad:
