I've booked a camping trip for the whole family.

Any tips? Me and CL1.1 will be fine as we still have the gear from last time, but this time wife and CL1.2 are joining us too. Will wife and I be warm enough with a regular duvet? Is there any safety reason why I shouldn't put 1.1 in my adult sleeping bag, and 1.2 in 1.1's child's sleeping bag? As 1.2 is only a year old, I'm a bit concerned about him wriggling out of his covers at night and getting hypothermic. I just need to make sure that can't happen really.

Willow did just that when she was a toddler, found her sobbing in the corner of the tent and had to cuddle her between Poppy & I to warm her up

We never camp after the August bank holiday. We are more your softy glamping type.

It's gets dark and cold very early at this time of year, fine for adults who can go to a local pub and numb themselves against the cold, but it's a difficult time of year to go camping with young children. We only did it with a big tent, electrical hookup and gas heater, air beds and loads of blankets for on top of the sleeping bags.

Thanks all. I might cancel it. It was probably daft of me to book a camping trip while full of beer anyway.

In that case, I'd give it a miss, I think :blue thumb:

Or ... you and cl1:1 still go ahead (seeing as you have been together before) but wait until warmer weather to take Mrs cl1 and cl1:2 (you don't want to put her off on her first venture camping :heehee:)

Personally at this time of the year with a baby and small child a static caravan would have been a better option as you can heat them up and if the weather outside is rough then there is enough room for the older lad to move around and enough floor space for the youngest one to crawl around in.:smile:I certainly would never recommend taking a baby away camping in a tent at this time of the year because as well as the cold there will be the damp to contend with as well.

That's what we've always done, and if booked via The Sun holidays bargain breaks they only cost about £67 for a 5 day/4 night break ( no linen or club passes), We're off on yet another one of those at that price in a week's time.

It's also worth checking out/registering for late bargains/cancellations at sites, as last year we got a caravan cancellation for virtually the same price as a tent pitch @Kandy - you will know the site I mean, near Porlock.

@clueless1 ...you've got the perfect car for a tourer with your Gothilda have you ever fancied one? you can pick them up quite reasonable I know the initial outlay may be a little expensive but the years of fun and memories you'd have with the Cluelets is priceless...OK so I'm bias but I love Caravanning

Trouble is I'd have nowhere really to store a tin tent.

I know that's a bit of a problem but do a local google ,there's bound to be a local farmer up your way that'll have a bit of spare land:thumbsup:
