I wear a plastic wristband with my penicillin allergy on, my husband had a heart condition, and was also on warfarin, as he had had 3 pulmonary embolism from D.V.T.s if you call for medical assistance with chest pains, the first thing they do is wack an aspirin into you, NO, not on warfarin, all this was engraved on his medic alert bracelet, and they always check to see if you are wearing one.

@pamsdish and @Marley Farley. I'm sorry, I meant no offence with my comments in post #27, I was just replying to Val's post where she referred to ambulance men and took that as a lead. With hindsight I should have made a general reference to all those that would be in a position to use a scanner, be it one of the services or anyone else, including those that will have managed to obtain one through illicit means. Unfortunately we can't trust everyone around us.

Of course she didn't, comments aren't meant to be taken personally, just a generalisation.

Well.... I was hospitalised again on Thursday after having to call 999 (first time ever for me).
Regarding my medical wrist band, the paramedic didnt even know how to open it :frown:, and I had to point it out to him as I was in no fit state to be remembering and calling out my meds.
I was very disappointed because I had been told by someone that they don't even look for them, but a paramedic told me a few months ago that they do.
